Scotts Company Executives prepare to distribute free container
gardens to brighten the lives of local citizens.
Our second annual celebration of National Garden Month showed
growth in participation and enthusiasm from all areas. Here are a
few examples of what can happen when citizens, corporations,
government, and greening groups work together to get the word out
about the benefits of gardening — and this is just for
starters!

Simply Beautiful and the Green Guerillas donated 50,000 packets
of seeds throughout the boroughs of New York City.

Policymakers in Pennsylvania officially proclaimed April as
National Garden Month in their state.

The Scotts Company created and donated 100 container gardens for
elderly and handicapped citizens near their corporate
headquarters.

Subaru of America awarded gardeners $10,000 in garden supplies
via the Get Gardening Giveaway.

Schools and nonprofit agencies found inspiration and support to
start education- and community-enriching garden projects.
